IMPLANT OR ROOT CANAL TREATMENT? IS ONE OF TWO OPTIONS BETTER AND THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD?

Dental implants pose a challenge for all extensive conservative treatment measures, such as primary root canal treatment or retreatment. According to success rates and survival probabilities, there are only inadequate answers available to the question of implant or root canal treatment being more suitable in a specific situation – especially since the definitions of success and failure vary in endo-dontology and implantology, making a valid comparison even more difficult. There are numerous tooth- and patient-related parameters, which are taken into account during decision making. In general, a meticulous weighting of these parameters is required in every individual case, and this consideration is more relevant than an ostensibly more imposing approach, that is solely based on mean values.
